Alan Windsor (Tom Cross: Early Paintings, 2013) notes that Connections may be attributed to the same influences as Taliesin - the studio and house by Frank Lloyd Wright, Taliesin West. Whereas Taliesin sets shapes at sloping angles of 15 degrees, the Connections series utilises 30 degree angles.
