Houghton Green is a rural village in Greater Manchester. Produced during Cross' time at Manchester School of Art.
This piece formed part of Cross' application to the Abbey Minor Travelling Scholarship, awarded to him by the British School in Rome in 1956.
Exhibited at the Northern Scene, Salford Art Gallery, 1958.
